This past weekend our Junior League had a team that participated in the Susan G. Komen race for the Cure - and I was our captain! We had a team last year that participated, but this year the cause hit us all a lot harder. About 4 weeks ago one of our dear friends was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. She's in her early 30's, no history of cancer in the family, and in EXCELLENT health. It's so sad to see such a vibrant, fun, enthusiastic person get sidelined with this awful disease. Our prayers go out for Lisa!!!
So, this year we dedicated our race to her -- Our team name was "Dynamic Diva's" and our shirts read: "Lacing up for Lisa" on the back. I know that she was touched ...but more than that, she was able to come join us for the race. It was a powerful day and Lisa is a great inspiration to us all!
