Our week at a glance!

It was another busy weekend in the Simon household! I had another interview (job search sidenote: I've had several interviews and (second interviews!) Overall, lots of good leads but nothing has fallen into place yet, unfortunately. I really like this desperate housewife gig, lol! - however, I'm getting VERY eager to get out of the house now. I may seriously look into something part-time "for fun" -- we'll see?)
Anyway, on a brighter note Paul was offered a position with the firm he met with a few weeks back - The Coles Firm. He's soooo excited as you can imagine. It's a small place, a few guys & paralegals and he'll be handling immigration law. Yes, he has a lot to learn since MSU law didn't even offer that specialty! We went to the firm's open house this Thursday to meet everyone and I must say that after seeing the group I think Paul will fit in nicely and really like it there. First of all, they're all wine drinkers ~ plus, the owner is a Duke grad and from the midwest.
But it was a sad good-bye to the crew at American Airlines - Paul has mixed feelings a little. But at the same time he was ready to move onto a permanent position with more responsibility. We went out for farewell drinks Friday with the group -- (yes, I looove hanging out with all these boring attorneys!)

Ft. Worth

Paul and I had another first this weekend -- we went to Ft. Worth! Yes, we have almost lived here a year and have never ventured over to the neighboring city of Dallas. We went on Friday night since downtown F.T.W was having an Art Festival and one of Paul's new favorite bands was playing that night -- Cowboy Mouth. They're a Louisiana based band that are starting to make it big. Paul saw them with a couple friends at House of Blues a while back and now he's hooked. So, we drank our beers on the street, (Coors of course in West TX!) and listened to a little music. Afterwards we met up with a few of Paul's law friends who live in Ft. Worth and went to an outside bar where the Spazmatics where playing -- an 80's band dressed like nerds. They're absolutely hilarious! So, if you know my love for 80's music you know I was in Heaven!

The drummer is actually the lead singer!

Ann's Bday

We're been celebrating a lot of birthday's round here! Last week we went out to celebrate a good friend's 29th at Zen bar -- Ann is just to the right of me. It was a weeknight so we had to take it easy -- we are getting old for goodness sakes~ lol!

The Big Easy!

This weekend Paul and I headed to New Orleans for a little vacay :-) We met Leahey there who was in town for a medical conference. We were all first-timers to this crazy city... all I can say is it sure is a mix of southern charm and non-stop partying!

Here's Paul and I on Bourbon Street at a Bar called O'Briens. You can't tell but there is a lovely fountain behind us ;-)

All I can say about this picture is, "have you seen the movie BIG"

Bourbon Street again... yes, you can drink on the streets in N.O. we're not that Drunk!

Here's Paul and I on the river -- so pretty!

There was a Jazz Festival going on this past weekend (which I imagine happens pretty often) but it was pretty busy on the streets. Here's a pic of the French Quarter.

Here's Leahey and I at Bubba Gump Shrimp enjoying an afternoon Cocktail. We earned it as much as he made us walk around the city!

THE STORM

Paul and I experienced our first Texas storm last night -- it was the first time in my life I wanted to hide in the closet because of a storm!!! There were 80-90mph winds, baseball size hail, (yes, hail in TX!) rain, THUNDER, lighting the works! Below are a few pics of the damages near our apartment...

Tree limbs were down absolutely everywhere! Some fell on carports which caused big messes. Luckily our cars were okay!

Here are a few shingles that flew off our roof. I'm sure it will be awhile till they're all picked up!

I'm guessing this was a big reason why we didn't have power till 2pm today!

Sneaky Petes

Here's the crew out at Sneaky Petes on Lake Lewisville. It's a big attraction here in Dallas -- but it's only about the size of Big Star Lake in MI! I know, we were so spoiled in Michigan being right on the water! But Pete's is a great place to drink, eat, boat, swim and just hang out on the weekends. The sun and water took a lot out of us and Paul and I called it an early night!

Happy Birthday to Rob!

We are celebrating a lot of Birthday's these days...here's Paul and Rob at a new sushi restaurant RA "raw" taking down some sake bombs! I stuck to my tried and true vodka tonics! Later that night the boys went out to Loft 610 to keep celebrating. I didn't get any details but Paul came home and passed out while eating snacks. Yes, there was food in our bed the next morning! The joys of living with a boy!
