Last weekend Paul, Dustin and I went out with Bobby and his wife, Keely on their boat. Bobby works in the same office as Paul and Dustin but has his own law practice. The guys bond over coffee talk about important subjects such as Real Housewives and Jersey Shore ;-) I'm convinced they're just as bad as ladies!
We headed out to Lake Ray Hubbard towards Fort Worth around 12pm. I was amazed by all the development around the lake. We definitely weren't "roughin it"! The dock areas had beautiful restaurants and shopping areas...Hilton, Cinemark, Primo's, Doddie's, MiCocina, Texas Land and Cattle Co., ect.... So wonderful! After spending some time at "Party cove" we headed over to a dock area for dinner at Doddie's for some Cajon grub. What a long day on the lake!

Food for Thought Benefit
July 10th we attended the Food for Thought benefit at the Tower Club downtown Dallas. It was presented by the Dallas Young Lawyers Association -- which Paul is very active in so we were happy to attend and support his friends involved in the benefit.
There were 12-14 local celebrity chefs who prepared small plates at different stations around the room and along with the open bar we sampled as many stations as we could! There were scallops, lobster risotto, caprese salads, "cake balls", sliders, duck, an amazing cheese table to name a few!
We didn't bid on any of the silent auction items although there were plenty of tempting items... But Paul won a $100 bottle of wine at the wine draw! A few of the celebrity chefs had been on Top Chef which was exciting -- Tre Wilcox and Lisa Garza. What a lovely event!

End of an Era
It was a sad good-bye with my Audi last week :-( We had been together for almost 6 years and there were sooooo many great memories in that car! Driving to my first REAL job, driving to visit Paul at law school, driving to Dallas with my sister... But I guess life is moving us forward and its time for new memories in a NEW car. So, I am falling for an Acura TSX now -- it has all kinds of fun tools and buttons! My favorite is the bluetooth set in the car -- and it even stores phone numbers! Its great for calling my loved ones during my commute!

Running Naked....
Well, not "naked" per se... But last Friday I was behind schedule and just flew out the door for a run without any of my "necessities" No ipod, no heart rate strap, no Garmin watch, no sunglasses--nothing! It felt incredibly weird at first!! I kept looking down at my wrist looking for my pace and miles completed - but eventually, I just zoned out.
I let the sun shine on my face, I listened to my feet pounding the pavement, concentrated on my breath and I spent time with my own thoughts. It was so therapeutic and energizing!
I don't know the exact number of miles I completed that day, or the amount of calories burned and the sun was in my eyes more than I would have liked...but it was refreshing in a way I would try again!

Team Jacob!
Last week a group of girlfriends and I FINALLY went to see the wildly anticipated ECLIPSE!!! I was so excited to drool over my adorable Taylor Lautner for 3 hours -- plus, it was a really good movie too! :-)
I had just re-read the book by the pool over the last week so I was primed and ready for the vampire and werewolf excitement! To top it off, we went to the new Gold Class Cinema in Allen. What a treat! After going to this place you'll never want to see a movie in a regular theater again. The waiting area is a huge lounge with comfy over-sized couches and bright colored pillows where they serve you cocktails and apps. I ordered the special that night "Rated R cocktail" -- super yummy! Then they come and tell you when "your cinema is ready" and direct you to your seats. They take your food/drink orders and then come around and ask if you need a pillow or blanket. How fabulous!? I would be asleep in the recliner if I was at any other movie! What service?!
Happy 4th 2010!
What a festive, fun, relaxing 4th of July weekend!
We kicked it off at Kara's house Friday night working hard to make 1,700 jello shots for the Kaboomtown pool party at Addison Circle the next day. I would say I'm pretty much an expert after making jello shots for 4 hours and learning from the best of 'em! This is a tradition I was thrilled to be a part of - party on!
Everyone was so thrilled to enjoy our coolers (and coolers!) of jello shots at the pool the next day! It felt great to feel like a party hero ;-) lol!
Paul and I didn't stay at the party TOO long because we wanted to get to Lake Texoma at a decent hour to take part in fesitivies on the docks. We met up with some of his clients and his collegue, Dustin for some food, drinks and music on the dock. Good times and good music!
The next day called for some recovery time but by that evening we were ready to do it again! We had our friends Kerri & Jason and Catrina & Craig over for a BBQ at our house. After too much food and way to much sangria we called it a night! What a lovely time we had despite missing the fireworks!
Happy Birthday America!

Up and running...kinda
The great news is I'm up and running again! Rehab went beatifully and I'm so thankful for Dr. Maloy and her team for getting me back! The IT band syndrom is gone and the soft tissue injury to my hamstring is almost (completely) healed! I'm being very careful by running at a super easy pace and increasing mileage slowly! But it sure does feel good to be back!
However, I wasn't off the injured list for long... During a Friday morning run before work I totally biffed it and went down tripping over my feet and skinned both my knees and elbows! "Seriously, did I just do that" I thought? I quickly got up, brushed myself off, took a quick look around to make sure no one was looking at me and continued to run home! Yes, I had blood running down my knees and shins the entire way back - but I'm hoping this just made me look tough! ;-)
Luckily, these scabs haven't sidelined me and I've still been out jogging -- but they're awfully unattractive! Jeesh!

Milo turns 3!
About a week ago my little baby dog turned 3 years old! I can't believe Milo has been a part of our family for just 3 years, he's such a BIG part of us now! I can still remember so clearly going to pick up that little 8 week old puppy! He was so teeny and precious! Now he is loud and runs around like crazy -- we love you Milo! And Happy Birthday!
We celebrated his 3rd bday with some cupcakes (for us) and by getting Milo a lifevest for the pool. He swims pretty well right now, but we're hoping he'll hang out in the pool more (and not get so HOT) if he has a vest. We'll see... he wasn't so sure about it when we gave it to him...

Summa Time....
We've had some seriously lazy days by our pool -- sometimes I wonder what we would do without it? Thank goodness we have the liquid goodness with this Texas heat! Even little Milo is enjoying the waves ;-) Lately, weekends have been filled with pool time, bbq-ing, drinks with friends, exploring Frisco a bit more and enjoying the occasional date night. I feel so lucky to have great friends to share summer with, a wonderful place to call home and a fabulous husband to LOVE!
Junior League Provisional Social
A week or so ago we welcomed our new class of provisionals to the league -- the best way we know how! With a Junior League social event at Sambuca! You gotta love events where you can have cocktails and apps too ;-)
It was a Wednesday night and we started early - 6pm and we socialized, laughed, drank and even danced! What a good time we had -- maybe even TOO much fun for a weekday. Let's just say Thursday spin class was ROUGH the next day and I needed some serious diet dr. pepper to get through the day. But it was totally worth it -- I love girls nights!
